The term entitlement refers to the number of licenses you own and an assignment refers to how many of those licenses are currently in use, or assigned to an end-user.
Entitlements included in your Microsoft® subscription must be assigned to individual users before they can be utilized. When do you need to think about entitlements? (1) When you are a new subscriber and have no licenses assigned yet, and (2) any time you increase your license count and those licenses need to be assigned. Licenses can also be unassigned and reassigned from any user at any time from your pool of entitlements. This is useful when there are personnel changes.
Within the Insight Cloud Commerce Platform, select Licenses on the left navigation bar. From there, all entitlements included in your subscription will be visible. The number of licenses can be seen to the right of the product name. Below it, the number of licenses already assigned and the number available will be displayed.
Select Assign licenses to make entitlement adjustments.
Once on the Assign license page, you can again see the number of licenses owned for that particular product, as well as their current use and availability. Below this, you can see every available user in your organization. To the right of the users’ names and information is the option to assign (or unassign) a license to that individual. Simply click to assign or deselect to unassign.
You can also see and manage your entitlements through the Microsoft Office 365® admin center portal. Within this portal, you can assign and unassign, but cannot increase your licenses.
